The Dermalux Tri-wave MD uses the highest quality of LED light and works by delivering 3 different types of wavelengths into the skin at different levels. These wavelengths include Blue light, red light and near infrared light; these can work simultaneously together or individually depending on the skin condition treated. The LEDs’ trigger a variety of skin enhancing processes meaning that visible effects continue to appear even after the treatment has finished.

Red light
Rejuvenates the skin by improving its’ structure trough collagen and elastin stimulation that leads to firmer smoother skin.

  • Stimulates collagen and elastin production
  • Improves texture and tone
  • Accelerates cell renewal
  • Reduces fine lines
  • Increases circulation
  • Stimulates lymphatic drainage

Blue light
Significantly reduces bacteria that cause acne and calms inflammation helping to prevent future breakouts.

  • Antibacterial properties (kill P.acne bacteria)
  • Calming and soothing- improves skin clarity
  • Normalises oil production and prevents breakouts
  • Beneficial post procedure to minimise the risk of infection and breakout.

Near Infrared Light (NIR)
Works by delivering advanced skin rejuvenation for the reduction of pigmentation and signs of aging as well as helping to heal the skin and reduce inflammation.

  • Calms redness and irritation
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation
  • Promotes skin health
  • Accelerates post treatment healing
  • Ideal for overly sensitive, compromised skin

Dermalux is right for anyone looking for a treatment to improve the general skin quality and condition of their skin, it is safe to use on all skin types and skin conditions. The treatment is also for anyone looking to reduce their downtime post more invasive procedures as it promotes faster healing.

Treatment time takes between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the type of treatment being performed.

The Dermalux treatment is an extremely comfortable procedure, patients will experience a pleasant heat sensation on their skin. During the procedure the patient will wear glasses to protect their eyes and sit in a comfortable chair.

The number of sessions needed varies from each individual. Upon consultation, your therapist will determine the best treatment plan for your individual skincare needs however usually a course of 3 to 8 sessions may be required for best results to be achieved. Alternatively, Dermalux can be used as a one- of treatment when combined with other procedures. For example, it is best used after injectable treatments to promote faster healing and recovery.

Dermalux does not require much prep prior to treatment, we do however advise patients to arrive to treatment without make-up and free of any SPF as it may block the LED light from penetrating into the skin. Additionally, patients should stop any photosensitive medication at least 5 days prior to treatment (patients will be informed of the list of photosensitive medications during consultation). Any active products such as retinols should be avoided 48 hours prior to treatment.

Yes, Dermalux is safe. Due to the use of athermal and atraumatic nature of LED light therapy. It is clinically proven and does not use harmful UV rays so it will not damage your skin. It is beneficial to use all year round for all skin types and conditions.

No, there is no downtime involved.

Dermalux is a non-invasive procedure. It is a year-round treatment and is safe to use on all skin types and skin conditions. Studies have shown that LED light therapy does not cause any side effects.

Following a single session, patients can expect to notice immediate improvements in the skin tone, hydration, redness, and healing particularly post more invasive procedures. However, more extensive, and longer lasting results will occur over a course of treatment, usually a course of 6 to 8 treatments.

The following aftercare is advised:

  • Sun exposure should be avoided for a minimum of 48 hours
  • Make-up can be worn immediately after procedure however we recommend the use of mineral make-up or non-comedogenic so that the skin can breathe
  • Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated
  • Active products such as Retinols should be used 48hrs after the procedure
